Calling All Girls Scouts!

We offer a variety of workshops taught by professional teaching artists that are designed to help scouts learn to express themselves through the dramatic arts.

Stagedoor Saturdays

Earn your “VSC Drama” badge by expanding your creative horizons while learning about and using your acting tools (body, voice, imagination). This workshop includes theater games, and a behind-the-scenes tour of The Wells Theatre. Workshops are offered from 10:00AM – 11:30AM.

Earn your “VSC Drama” badge while working with our professional teaching artists on pantomiming skills, voice exercises, character development, warm-up techniques, theater games, and improvisation! As a grand finale, you can even perform a short play with your troop mates! Workshops are offered from 1:00PM – 2:30PM

Earn your “VSC Drama” badge by attending a show at The Virginia Stage Company and participating in a hands-on workshop led by one of our professional teaching artists. Class content will teach scouts how to use their acting tools (body, voice, and imagination) to explore a moment from the production of either “Peter and the Star Catcher” or from “A Christmas Carol,” create a character from that time period, and design a costume for her/him. Workshops are offered from 2:00PM – 3:30PM followed by a 4PM show. Families are welcome to attend the show as well.
Please note: March 5th workshop will NOT include a show.

Cadettes and Seniors

Cadettes will work toward their “Screenwriter Badge” and Seniors will earn their “Troop Performer Badge” by learning about the artistic careers available in theater while working with professionals already employed in the field. Three different 2 1/2 hour workshops in acting, play-writing, and costume, sound & scene design are available. There are also opportunities for fulfilling the badge’s service requirement. Workshops are offered from 1:00PM – 3:30PM

PLEASE NOTE: Saturday workshop reservations require a group of at least 5 girls!

If you do not have the 5 girl minimum please contact Madeline Dummerth for availability.
