The Managing Director, a full-time, year-round position at Virginia Stage Company in Norfolk, VA, reports to and will work in close partnership with Producing Artistic Director Tom Quaintance, and with the board of Trustees and staff to enable Virginia Stage to realize its goals in artistic excellence, community service, fiscal stability, education, fundraising and audience engagement. The Managing Director has accountability for all administrative, human resource, operational, and financial activities. Direct reports include Director of Marketing, Company Manager, Accountant and Bookkeeper. Indirect reports include the Director of Education, Box Office Manager, and House Manager.
While managing and budgeting company assets, this position will oversee office staffing and operations, negotiate contracts and employment agreements, oversee the coordination of physical spaces and collaborate with the Producing Artistic Director in creating and implementing the artistic vision of Virginia Stage Company in conjunction with the board and local stakeholders.
