CAPITAL CAMPAIGN MANAGER
Virginia Stage Company seeks a highly motivated, skilled and experienced fundraising
professional to join the team at this exciting point in the company’s history. S/He will work in
close partnership with the Producing Artistic Director, Managing Director and an engaged and
energized Board to complete the second phase of the company’s Capital Campaign (~$2M). The
qualified candidate will support high artistic standards, strengthening connections with the
Hampton Roads community and successfully engage loyal and growing audiences. This position
presents an opportunity for the right candidate to join the Senior Staff of one of Norfolk’s most
important cultural assets, a leading non-profit currently celebrating 40 years of theatre-making.
Virginia Stage Company seeks a highly motivated, skilled and experienced Controller to lead our non-profit finance department. This part-time position (20 hours/week) will oversee all accounting functions, regulatory and financial reporting, budget creation and reporting, forecasting and reconciliations, as well as developing/stewarding internal control policies and procedures. They will work in close partnership with the Producing Artistic Director, Managing Director and an engaged and energized Board, all focused on fulfilling Virginia Stage’s mission.
Grants & Special Events Associate (Part-Time)
Virginia Stage Company seeks a highly motivated, passionate and experienced non-profit
administrator to lead the organization’s grant writing activities and assist with periodic special
events. The Grants & Special Events Associate will write, research, and manage grants for corporate, foundation, and government funders on behalf of Virginia Stage’s artistic,
education, and community engagement programming. The candidate will work with many
Virginia Stage staffers in the collection of programmatic, statistical, and financial information,
assemble work samples and other grant proposal necessities, identify, and research potential
funders for the organization.
Public Works Coordinator
Virginia Stage Company seeks a highly motivated, skilled and experienced community coordinator to join the artistic/education/engagement team in coordinating the newly launched Public Works program. This position presents an opportunity for the right candidate to join an exciting new art-making team at one one of Norfolk’s most important cultural assets, a leading non-profit currently celebrating 40 years of theatre-making.
Virginia Stage Company seeks to fill a key position of the Technical Director (TD) to manage the Scenic, Electrics, Sound and Props Departments. The TD optimizes scenic department workflow, ensures facilities and equipment are in excellent operating order, and guarantees that material resources are available on a timely basis. The Technical Director works closely with the Scenic Designer and other creatives to make certain that designs are realized in a timely, safe, and cost-effective basis.
Virginia Stage Company seeks to hire an Electrician, primarily responsible for assisting the Master Electrician in the hang, focus, and strike of Virginia Stage Company’s eight show season and special events. The Electrician is the primary lighting console programmer and operator for each production. Night and weekend
availability is essential.
EDUCATION TEACHING ARTISTS - ALL DISCIPLINES
Virginia Stage Company seeks dynamic professional artists of all theatrical disciplines to join a vibrant roster of collaborative teaching artists - Summer 2018 and School Year 2018-2019 positions available! Virginia Stage Company Teaching Artists are placed in short and long term residencies across the 7 cities to teach their craft and assist students in increasing academic and life skills. Actors, designers, writers, technicians, technical directors, production managers, singers, dancers, and stage managers with professional experience and an interest in working with students and adults in Hampton Roads are encouraged to apply.
Virginia Stage Company’s High School Internship Program offers internships which are designed to give high school students from the Hampton Roads communities intensive training and experience in the field of technical theatre. Qualified applicants should be current high school students who possess a strong desire to continue their focus in professional theatre, particularly technical theatre.
