For Meredith Parker, the role of Susan in Wait Until Dark is deeply personal. As a low-vision actor with late-onset vision loss, she is drawn to Susan’s experience navigating the world without sight and discovering that what first appears to be a disadvantage becomes a strength.
“What may initially seem like a disadvantage ends up being her superpower,” Parker says.
That realization sits at the heart of Wait Until Dark. This is not a story driven by spectacle, but by awareness, restraint, and attention. The tension builds slowly, asking audiences to listen closely and notice what others miss.
“I hope audiences find themselves on the edge of their seat as this slow-burn suspense thriller unfolds,” Parker adds.
In the dark, perception becomes power.
Wait Until Dark runs January 28 through February 15 at the Wells Theatre. Tickets are on sale now at vastage.org.
