Saturday’s Events Canceled
Due to the severe rainstorm that moved through Norfolk on Thursday, August 20, the Wells Theatre experienced water coming into the building and onto the stage.
Our team will need the next few days to clean up and make sure the theatre is safe and ready to welcome audiences. As a result, Virginia Stage Company has made the difficult decision to cancel Curtain Up: Community Day at the Wells, scheduled for Saturday, August 22.
We are incredibly disappointed that we won’t be able to share the day with our community. We were looking forward to opening the doors of the Wells for performances, backstage tours, conversations with our community partners and a special sneak peek at Come From Away.
U.S. Fleet Forces Band Concert Will Be Rescheduled
The U.S. Fleet Forces Band’s Four Star Edition concert, scheduled to take place following Community Day at 5 PM, has also been canceled for Saturday.
We are working to reschedule the free concert for a future date and will share details as soon as they are available.
Come From Away Will Go On
The good news is that our team has time to get everything cleaned up and ready for the start of Season 48.
Come From Away will begin performances as scheduled on September 2 at the Wells Theatre.
This uplifting musical tells the remarkable true story of 7,000 airline passengers stranded in Newfoundland in the days following September 11, 2001, and the small community that welcomed them with extraordinary kindness.
Come From Away runs September 2–20, and tickets are on sale now at vastage.org.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Virginia Stage Company. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Wells very soon.
