See The Heart Sellers in Action! A Sneak Peek at the Wells Theatre
A little wine, a little dancing, and a whole lot of heart!
What happens when two strangers, thousands of miles from home, find themselves spending Thanksgiving together? In The Heart Sellers, the answer involves laughter, a few awkward moments, some unexpected revelations, and the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
It's 1973, and Luna, a recent immigrant from the Philippines, meets Jane, who has recently arrived from South Korea. Neither has ever celebrated an American Thanksgiving, and neither wants to spend the holiday alone.
What follows is an evening filled with wine, cooking, dancing, and conversations that move effortlessly from hilarious to heartfelt. As the two women get to know each other, they discover that even though their experiences are different, they have more in common than they ever imagined.
But don't just take our word for it. Take a peek for yourself!
Written by Lloyd Suh and directed by Desdemona Chiang, The Heart Sellers is a funny, moving, and surprisingly timely story about finding friendship, navigating a new world, and discovering what it really means to belong.
And while the play takes place more than 50 years ago, its themes of immigration, identity, and human connection feel especially relevant today.
Come for the laughs. Stay for the heart.
The Heart Sellers runs through October 25 at the historic Wells Theatre in downtown Norfolk.
