Curtain Up: Community Day at the Wells Returns August 22
UPDATE FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 22
We have some disappointing news to share. Due to the severe rainstorm that moved through Norfolk today, the Wells Theatre experienced water coming into the building and onto the stage.
Our team will need the next few days to clean up and make sure everything is safe and ready for audiences. As a result, we must cancel Saturday’s Curtain Up: Community Day at the Wells and the US Fleet Forces Rock Band concert.
We’re incredibly disappointed that we won’t be able to spend the day with our community as planned. The good news is that we plan to reschedule the Fleet Forces concert and will share a new date as soon as we can.
And Come From Away audiences, don’t worry: the show will go on! We’ll have the Wells ready to welcome you when performances begin September 2.
Thank you for your understanding. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the Wells soon.

Join us on Saturday, August 22 for Curtain Up: Community Day at the Wells, a free, family-friendly open house celebrating the start of our new season. Whether you're a longtime patron or stepping inside the Wells Theatre for the very first time, this is the perfect opportunity to experience the magic of live theatre in a fun and welcoming way.
Throughout the day, you'll have the chance to explore the historic Wells Theatre, meet members of our artistic team, enjoy live performances and behind-the-scenes experiences, and discover what makes Virginia Stage Company such a special part of Hampton Roads. We'll also welcome many of our community partners, who will be on hand to share information about the incredible work they're doing throughout our region.
There will be something for theatre lovers of all ages, with activities, demonstrations, giveaways, and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow arts enthusiasts. Whether you stay for an hour or spend the whole day with us, Curtain Up is the perfect way to kick off the season.
Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
